METEOROLOGIST (P/T) – WFSB

Connecticut’s #1 source for news, WFSB-TV, is searching for an experienced Meteorologist to join our First Alert Weather team. This person will forecast and deliver weather across all of our digital and social platforms and anchor weather.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepares and anchors interesting and informative weathercasts with station brand and First Alert Weather research in mind
  • Develops and innovates new presentation tools for TV and digital platforms
  • Work performed is for all media platforms and initiatives, including for example: on-air, web, digital and social media
  • Makes public appearances on behalf of the station including, but not limited to, “Surviving The Storm”
  • Appears in station promotions
  • Implements station weather research initiatives
  • Develops weathercasts to attract the largest available audience
  • Expands weather brand reach on digital platforms

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Three years experience as a weather anchor or meteorologist at a commercial television station

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • AMS or NWA seal required
  • Proficiency with complex computer-driven weather production systems
  • Must be flexible and willing to work unexpected hours for severe weather
  • Must possess excellent ad lib skills and be able to drive long-form severe weather coverage solo or in a team setting
  • Must be willing to work in a team-oriented environment
  • % Travel Required (Approximate): 10%
